Santa in shorts

After having returned from Oxford I felt inspired to study another unit with the university. I am going to be studying Literary Theory this Summer as well as working on finishing off my PhD thesis.
In Australia, our Summer season is hot and dry and most people go to the beach. This might seem odd to people who are used to a white Christmas, but here, our Santa loves delivering his Christmas gifts in shorts and thongs!
Everything in Australia is closed during the Christmas period and everybody has holidays. In summer, the television shows usually feature Christmas specials and Australian families gather in their backyards and have barbeques and social get-togethers to celebrate this important festivity.
I would like to see more of Australia before I leave the country to work and teach English overseas so I will most likely take some time off to see places like Perth, Queensland and Tasmania. New Zealand is also very close to Australia and I have some friends there who I will visit before I leave. If everything goes according to plan I will be in Asia in a few years’ time to teach English again.
I had so much fun in Japan in 2008 that I knew I would have to return in the future and see more of that part of the world!
