I lived in the City of Obu, which is located near the City of Nagoya and has a population of about eighty-seven thousand people.

It's divided into two sides, East and West, by the Japan Railway (JR) tracks. The east side has more farming areas whereas the west side has more residential areas. I lived on the west side of Obu for seven years because I wanted to be near Nagoya.

If I took a JR Rapid train, I would arrive in Nagoya in about fifteen minutes. I could enjoy both the convenience and liveliness of Nagoya, which is the fourth largest city in Japan, and also the nature and peacefulness of Obu.

Questions to you:

Where do you live in Japan?

What’s the population of your town/city?

How would you describe your town/city?

What are the pluses and minuses of your town/city?

Which do you prefer-the countryside or city?

What can be done to keep farming towns from dying out?

What are the challenges of population growths in major cities?

How do we solve the problems of segregation and income disparity?
