My opinion:
When I first saw this, I was really confused. I don't think his theatrical display was necessary. As a taxpayer myself, I want to know that public money is being used responsibly. I hope a more thorough accounting of his use of public funds is done and if Mr. Nonomura is found guilty of wrong doing, he should pay it back!
My opinion:
I think in this day and age the idea that women should only be wives and mothers sounds old-fashioned and sexist. Even though I can't tell people how to think in private, I think at work assembly members should at least have the courtesy to listen to other people's ideas politely. If the government is really interested in solving the problem of Japan's low birthrate they ought to listen more carefully to Ms. Shiomura's suggestions.
My opinion:
I really didn't like Mr. Shiomura's attitude in his "apology". If the remarks were in fact directed at "women in general" it's just as bad - No woman or man should feel pressured to get married and have children, especially since for women it harms their careers. Instead of an empty apology I'd like to hear Mr. Shiomura's plan to solve Japan's population problem.
