Costa Rican Wildlife

2010-04-23

There are many beautiful animals in Costa Rica. Recently, I visited a volunteer program in central Costa Rica. The program runs an animal sanctuary, where injured and abused animals go to heal and receive medical attention. Above you can see a toucan. I can see these amazing birds near my house in Costa Rica, too.

This magical cat is an ocelot. This one was hit by a car and now is living at the animal sanctuary to heal. Even though it is hurt, the volunteers at the program said that it is getting better and may be able to return to the jungle soon.

In the photo below you see spider monkeys. These monkeys walk on two legs and have very long arms. They also use their strong tails to move, eat and play. I really enjoyed visiting this program and learning about Costa Rican wildlife!

What is your favorite animal? Do you have pets?
