BEATLEMANIA!

2010-09-20

Recently I was in England with my daughter and we went on our own private Beatles tour, both in London and Liverpool. In London we visited the famous crosswalk at Abbey Road, which appears on the cover of the album of the same name.

Then we took the train to Liverpool, which is where all the Beatles were born and grew up. We hired a private taxi specializing in the Beatles and the driver was very knowledgeable. We saw all the Beatles homes, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and the grave of Eleanor Rigby, which was especially meaningful to my daughter, whose name is Eleanor!

Check out this rare photo of the name Beatles carved into the wall opposite Ringo’s home by his father!

Here is a picture of John’s childhood home. The driver told us that, after John was killed, the curtains have never been opened.

One thing that surprised us is how attractive Liverpool is. It has many beautiful parks, and the area along the waterfront has been restored. It was very interesting to see a place you have only heard about in songs, and find out that it is real.
