News in Mexico

2011-04-21

Mexico currently shows a lot of problematic situations on the local and world news. Mass kidnappings and shootouts are all over the news. Both the innocent and the poor are caught amid situations they cannot control, and drug lords making the headlines always create a lot of bad press and anxiety for all. It is a tough situation particularly along the large borderline between Mexico and the USA and countless people have lost their lives to it.

However there are many other things to be happy about; like Mexico again remembering fine sports moments, with a 3-1 victory over Costa Rica in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Guatemala on Sunday. With this last game, both Mexico and Costa Rica booked their passage to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia 2011.

Mexico is very big on soccer, it is their national sport and there’s nothing that will keep them away from watching a match, anywhere they are. You will find a TV anywhere you look: at airport gates, restaurants and even small and very modest eating places will make sure they have a TV set or else patrons will move on to the next place in order to watch a game.
