Do you agree to Initiative 502? Why or why not? Write your opinion.
Q: What is Initiative 502? A: Legalizing recreational marijuana in the state of Washington. Q: Why does Initiative 502 exist? A: Washington state residents voted and passed it in November of 2012. Q: Who can sell and grow pot? A: Licensed producers, processors, and retailers. Q: Who can buy it? A: Adults over the age of 21. Minors are prohibited from buying it and also entering marijuana stores. Q: Where are the stores? A: They must be 1,000 feet from schools, rec centers, public parks, or any other places where minors tend to be. Q: When can people buy it? A: May or June of 2014. Q: How much will it cost? A: About $5 per gram at the end of 2014. Q: How much tax will the state government receive in sales of weed? A: Processors will be taxed 25% of all sales to stores.
