Nativity plays

I recently went to see my nephews' Nativity plays and they were very funny.
It is a tradition at Christmas in many English-speaking countries to put on a play about the birth of Jesus. There is always competition to be 'Mary' or for the best costume.
My younger nephew is only 4 years old and was a little bit shy when he had to speak to a hall full of adults. The older one was bossing other children around (nudging them when it was time to speak or dance).
The only difference between now and when I was little, is that the Headmaster had to warn parents that photos and films of the children are not allowed to be posted on the internet - no Facebook!
It is a lovely, nost algic event that isn't really about the religious theme, but watching the children go through a rite-of-passage.
