Golden Wedding Anniversary

My husband, son and I recently went back to see my parents who live in Illinois (the Midwest part of the U.S.). They were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. 50 years of marriage is called the “golden” wedding anniversary in the U.S. It is an extremely special event for American families! Typically, American couples who celebrate 50 years of marriage have a large party to celebrate with their community, friends and relatives, have their photos published in the local newspaper, and receive numerous gifts.
However, instead of all those things, my parents wanted a small private reunion event with their children and families. So, my other siblings (two brothers and a sister) and their families flew back from all over the U.S. too. We spent time together at a resort where we enjoyed swimming, riding horses, having campfires, going hiking, etc. It was a wonderful time! We are a close family, so it was very special to celebrate together.
I am very honored and proud to see my parents celebrate this special day in their lives!
